Yours is 1984? (Should have a stamp in the head badge). I believe that's the only year High Sierra with the "shouldered" forks, the next year they went to "unicrown" forks. For some reason I like the look of the earlier forks better. Let me know if I'm wrong.

My 87 High Sierra has the lugged fork.

Yessir, both of my '86's came with them

I have an old Cannondale that has them as well.

Interesting! When I think of "unicrown" forks I think of designs like the third picture @J-wagon posted. Yours must have been a later refinement.

Curious that yours has a Paramount headbadge, my 87 has a High Sierra headbadge.

I found and cosmetically restored this gem early this year. Original tires were pretty dry, but solid enough for display. Bought it for my dad who's first bike was the 1986 High Sierra in brown.

I took a couple of photos of the head badge that I'll attach. Numbers are stamped on the left side of the badge, but I can't read them.

Sorry I can't be more help. I am losing my vision and the stamps are way beyond my perception.
