Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
  • This was on a funky restored bike I won on ebay. Seller misrepresented the whole deal and I
had to go to ebay to settle the matter, which took for ever, seller was a scammer.
Lots of fake and repop parts on a bike described as original parts.
Thanks ebay for ONCE ...you came through!

Schwinn postwar 6 hole rear carrier. This is one of the well made and very accurate
reproduction that came out in the 1980s. Very convincing and could easily be passed
off to many as original Schwinn 40s-50s 6 hole. Has the right looking glass reflector
on board... both clamps. Painted a funky brown color. Overall in very good condition.

Be cool to see an educational thread on the differences between a reproduction 6-hole rack and an original. It would be interesting to know what tipped you off to this being a reproduction. Thank you for being honest with your description. It does look like a very nice rack.

the slot for the reflector on the repro ...when you flip the rack upside down and examine that cavity
it's a bit deeper.
Also the "bends" on the U brace legs are not as nicely 'formed' as the originals.. ... And you can
also notice where the semi-tubular length of the rack legs flow into the 'flat' area for mounting..
that's a bit wonkier too. Pretty subtle all this stuff... but good to know.
Seems like the repops sell comparable $ to originals....
