Pre-war headlight questions

I haven't been able to find much info on these. Who manufactured this headlight, what years was it used, and on what bikes? I know the flat sided ones were used on Monark's in 40-41. I've also seen the embossed & scripted ones used on Shelby's. I usually refer to it as the porpoise nose light, but what is it's real name?

They came on Mercury’s too. Very popular in 41. Delta?

I’ve heard them called shark lights, this is on a 1948 Rollfast.

I’ve always wondered if this design was a direct result of Schwinn introducing their very popular fender light? A year later everyone was trying to compete with the style?
