I thought that the semi streamlined frame with the straight down tube started about 1937, (not in 1936 Harris Rollfast catalog); but Wards Hawthorne got the new designs first. Curved down tubes appeared to be marked 1940 for Wards, (04EH) and new for Rollfast in 1942, but then only for the most super deluxe model.

Agreed. Wald 28" rolled fork. I've only seen 3 or 4 of these in the last year and a half. I don't have many old bike parts laying around..... But I do happen to have a prewar hawthorne fork with good threads that is straight as an arrow. If you don't already have one I can send it to your front door free of charge. Just pm me your address if you want it.
