This is stupid, but i am particular....

What should the rear hub hardware consist of on a 41 DX? Besides the axle nut?

What about the front.

How many washers, what kind, etc?

Rear hub, should have lock nut (beyond the cone, inside the frame) and 2 stacked washers, one larger serated and one smooth sided, slightly smaller, then the axle nuts. That's New Departure by the way. Same goes for Morrow and Bendix only One washer per side.

Fronts vary depending on the hub and axle set up, but one washer per side.usually suffices

OOOPS You said prewar...so ONE washer on the rear axle per side in that case.... The stacked thing didn't happen til after WW2

So lock nut inside the dropout then the serated after the dropout?

I assume the one washer on prewar was the serated? Also fender braces before or after the serated washer? THanks!

No, You don't need the serated washer on the prewar setup because you have chain tensioner screws to keep the axle from slipping.

The serated washer was only needed on the postwar Schwinns because of the forward facing dropout, and the elimination of the chain tensioner screw.
