Nice Mead here, nice paint with a few old touch ups, locking chrome fork, looks like an older rechromed, key broken in lock, no breaks, original decals. $450. Shipped from 95472

I dont think a 1938 would have a straight down tube. Its 1936 more likely isnt it?

Awesome bike. Would be all over it if i had the money

THERE WERE NO FIVE DIGIT "X*****" SERIAL NUMBERS IN '36.
REMEMBER SCHWINN MADE BIKES FOR RANGER WITH
OUTDATED PARTS. AND MAYBE SERIAL NUMBERS WERE
STAMPED WHEN IT BUILT UP BIKES FOR RANGER.

What is the seat tube length? If I am looking at the picture correctly, it appears as though the locking fork lock is not angled. Am I correct?
Thanks, Steve

SSC THATS A GOOD EYE!
IF THAT FORK IS STRAIGHT BACK KEY, THEN IS A ONE YEAR ONLY FORK FROM SCHWINN IN 1936.
THE "X" SERIAL NUMBER FRAME WAS DATED FOR 1938.
REMEMBER SCHWINN MADE BIKES FOR RANGER WITH
OUTDATED PARTS.

Hi Wes,
That was my thinking. Appears to be a 36 fork. As you say, they probably used parts they had sitting around and assembled in 38. Seems like various Ranger forks were chromed as well.
Cheers, Steve
