Prewar Schwinn Crank

Look Ma, No Hands!
Would Schwinn have installed a generic Wald crank on a '39 Liberty? This is what I pulled from my bike.

Not seen a Wald replacement, but did have one that had 'H501' which is a Schwinn replacement crank number. Bent crank shaft or a stripped pedal thread seems like a common problem. I can remember as a kid, crashing my pedals on curbs quite a few times.

My problem is that I am discovering more and more that I have a bike with replacement parts.
