Before you bust out any chemicals to remove the blue paint, I think I would try some different kinds of tape if it were mine. The blue paint looks thin and flaky, and someone on here had great results just peeling off overpaint with tape on an Elgin. Whatever you do though, take your time and be extra careful with the pinstripes.

Just noticed the bike has a 1/2 pitch chain and not a skip tooth. Someone must have swapped that out as well.

Spoker is right-on in calling the year for the FORK as a 1936 model!

I've found that while assembling the bicycles a lot of dealers used parts form several different years, it depended on what they had in stock.
