This blew my mind today..... Got a very cool old glass headlight lens in the mail today. It came in in envelope.... Yes there was damage. What is wrong with people. I guess the seller doesn't care about his ebay rating.

Note - it wasn't from anyone here on the CABE.

PSA - Glass lenses need to be shipped in boxes !!!!!!

You can actually do a really secure packing job by tightly stuffing a padded USPS Priority envelope for smaller items. 2018 cost is $7.50. The package doesn't have to be pretty. "If it fits, it ships". I've even done this with headlights and rear hubs (2 hubs per envelope with brake arm and cog w/driver removed, laid flat for shipping). I picked this tip up from Freddie @fxo550.

Glass lenses need to be put in baggie, then taped to a harder surface like a thick piece of cardboard, then you need to add some crush protection around it if its very domed. Then put put in a box.

I totally agree I have been shipped items in an piece of an egg carton.I also got an item in an old Mc Donalds styrofoam container that still had a little piece of lettuce in it !

I ship lots of junk. I never put anything in an envelope by itself. they have the small flat rate boxes at the post office for little items.

Common sense is not so common anymore. I never realized this until I joined the Air Force and was issued my first pair of leather work gloves. They came with instructions...

That burns me up, how stupid people can be. Unfortunately now you have to spend your time to resolve it. And be without that special find.
