you do not mention the drilling, nor the planned lacing pattern

the Atom drum brake hub has a flange height of 89.5mm

nominal lengths for a 26" wheel:

for a 36 hole hub with three cross lacing the length would be 280mm

for a 36 hole hub with four cross lacing the length would be 295mm

for a 40 hole hub with three cross lacing the length would be 275mm

for a 40 hole hub with four cross lacing the length would be 289mm

the above values are nominal for a 26" wheel
from these must be subtracted the rim correction factor

correction for the Schwinn model S-2 wheel rim:

the Schwinn S-2 rim has a rim correction factor of -26 so reduce these values by that amount

---

tip:

the Maillard factory in Incheville France which produced the hub closed in 1991 so if spares should be needed down the road they may require a bit of exploring to locate

Why Lord? Why? Sorry I couldn’t resist. Did the Cruisers have an Atom or a different brake? V/r Shawn

36 x 4 cross hub is in good shape, contemplating switching it to disc brakes instead with freewheel in back and roller bearing hubs much less drag and million times better rolling as well. Awesome info thank you.

Arn't s2 rims drilled the same?

Schwinn use 3 different spoke gauges on the S-2's so hole size may vary.

This is a stainless set I removed from a 1980 S-2 with an atom. Only because I wanted the original galvanized spokes

Awesome thank you that is really close to what i thought it was i thought 9 5/8 9 3/4 wanted to be sure before i ordered spokes for it to build a wheel. You looking to get rid of those spokes?
Worked great wheel is awesome.
