Picked this up yesterday and have some questions. Serial number dates to 52 I think but drop center rims, dogleg crank seem earlier. BB joints seem rough and I’ve read where early post war electro forging was not perfected. Serial no is C82844 without sanding paint off I may try some chalk on it. Did someone repurpose a wheelset or did it come this way? Thanks for any replies Rick

Wow! Another early post war Red BFG DX with a C series serial number and the signs of the early production period! Looks like it has the signature bad aligned left seat stay to drop out weld. That's the worst one I've seen so far. As of today I have not come across any early production cantilever frames with all these indications of the early pre postwar frames. This one could be a late 45 early 46 piece and I can't tell what type of rear fender bridge was used on this one. It will be either the rolled tube or the U channel piece. Check out the pictures here.
