Rare Pierce Cycles Wool Hat ..

Very Old Pierce Cycles Hat.
Here’s what I know so far. It’s a very old wool hat, multicolored with a pierce cycles band on it.
I’ve shown it to about a dozen of Pierce and antique bicycle collectors, including museums. Everyone has been stumped so far. 2 collectors suggested it was from uniform of the Pierce Cycles board racing team.
The hat is in good shape for its age, button on the top has come loose slightly. It’s been folded flat a long time.

Welcome to the CABE Erich. What you have is a very lovely advertising beanie that would have been given out by bicycle shops, at trade shows, or races. Racers did not wear these. I have seen the Pierce most often as a beanie but the more rare form is the side cap style. Here you can reference other examples:
