I neglected to take a picture before disassembly...do I have the nut on correctly on the backside of the derailer?.....what is its purpose as the bolt is threaded.
Just to lock the bolt in place?,,thanks
I'm more familiar with the earlier Huret Allvit/Sprint derailleurs, but I don't think that bolt is supposed to be locked up tight.
The body of the derailleur should be able to pivot back and forth to a certain degree(there are stops built in to limit the pivot).
That's how the earlier derailleurs work anyway.
It can be a fussy adjustment to get the lateral side play out while still allowing the back & forth pivot.
