Finally riding a big boys bike
To begin w/, if you're a PURIST, click past listing! It's not an "all correct original" - BUT, it's obviously not priced as such. I'm going to try + list a truthful description. Even though there's some downfalls, this bike catches the eye!
Serial number is missing second digit, so year is "to be determined" by owner, as fork date is obliterated. Plenty believe the frames missing that second digit were '66 models. I expect bike started life as a '66 Typhoon, but is now an early Sting Ray CLONE.
The original paint is very decent w/ few small touchups. The guard has been redone w/ a stencil. Top bar, Quality decal + darts are all original.
Tires are brand new Duro. Rear non stamped Schwinn S2 has non red band Bendix coaster hub. Front brick pattern tire is mounted on non Schwinn rim. Both wheels are clean / true.
Fenders are decent, original Schwinn Sting Ray. Front is OK, but rear has some peppering w/ lesser chrome. Both have typical rust on undersides.
Seat is a rip free older recover that looks good on bike. Someone installed a new "Sting Ray" tag + I just left it. Strut is an axle mount w/ non square loop. Chrome is good w/ some pepper on top.
The handlebars are non Schwinn w/ scratches/nicks throughout. Stem is late + grips are Schwinn red glit slims.
Nice non Chicago badge , nice non original pedals , speedo is non Sting Ray "SCHWINN" w/o cable + crank is non Schwinn '64 shorty.
Would like to see $699 plus ship.
