New Mexico Brant

Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
Can someone please help with the dating on this Remington bicycle; I am interested in knowing the build year. I am guessing around 1900-1901? How many other male examples are out there, a search on the Cabe yielded some lady's models? Obviously the saddle is a replacement, the bike has its original chainring and Remington pedals. Thank you for any help. Kindly, Brant

It appears that Remington Bicycles was sold 1892-1900. Below are some references to 1900 model year. I have not found anything yet that confirms they were sold in 1901. With serial number 133084 and if it has features below I would say yours is 1900. They did not become part of the American Bicycle Company trust.

Thank you for the information Jeff! It will interesting to see if the bicycle has the original seat post. I likely will not be able to see it until sometime in November or December as it currently being stored at a friends house in Amherst, MA.

Additional information to move possible end date of Remington bicycle production to 1902. Found a 1901 Remington catalog and a reference to 1902 models. But also found a reference that states Remington stopped producing bicycles around January 1901 and have not found any advertisements from 1901 and 1902 yet. Will keep looking.

Great bike find and interesting information about the supposed decline of the cycling rage at the turn of the century. Reading the Bicycling World and Motorcycle Review editorial it seems in every age there is always a percentage of the population that make their mark as nay sayers, whats society coming to with all these new contraptions!? Better close the patent office because everything has been invented already...

I like their tag line, "you will have all any person can expect", LOL! Ride our wheel and all life experiences will be downhill after that.
