Ritchey 1987 TimberWolf

-

KingSized HD

Wore out three sets of tires already!
I picked up this Richey TimberWolf recently from a former Team Richey (Senior category) member who told me this was his factory-provided trainer bike. The serial number is covered by a cable guide but I’ve dated it based on component dates.
Lots of vintage MTB goodness going on with this bike; Grab-on grips, “Ritchey MountainBikes” bullmoose bars, Magura brake levers, Suntour XC II pedals, Araya RM25 rims & Ritchey Force Duro tires.

I didnt realize bikes still had bullmoose in 87'. Most went away by 85'. Components could have been changed. Love the bars though.

Thanks, the bars are one of my favorite things on the bike.

Ritchey started using their "Force Directional" stem in 1988, the year after this bike model. Here's the link to the catalog page showing the change https://ritchey.vintagebicycledatabase.com/catalogs/ritchey/1988/ritchey1988_04.jpg

You're right, the bullmoose bars on the bike may have been changed and not original, especially for a team rider who would know exactly what they wanted when they rode and had easy access to the Ritchey parts.
