Finally riding a big boys bike
Schwinn Black Phantom Centennial Model
This bike was in its original box for 23 years . I removed all the parts and waxed everything inside and out, assembled it and test drove it in a 4th. of July parade, It was a big hit there. The only thing that is not original are the tires ...the original tires were cracking after 23 years in the box. This bike rides like a dream, I have a bad hip now so I need a bike with lower speeds, So my long time dream bike is up for sale.
These bikes were made in Ontario, California for the 100th. anniversary of The Chicago Arnold Schwinn Bicycle Company.
The suggested manufactures retail price at that time was $ 2,999.00 ....The dealers were paying 1,600.00 for them .
They only made 5000 of them, this bike is number 4,990 and has the certification document ( see pics ) framed and included in the sale.
The serial number is G004490 .
These bikes were beautifully crafted after the first Black Phantoms of 1949. It's all ready to ride away .
It looks like it just came off a Schwinn store showroom back in the day .
I installed my hand made Leather Hub Shinners
Sorry I will NOT ship this beauty, this sale is for pickup only in Prospect Heights, Illinois
The price 1,500.00 firm
