SCHWINN EXCELSIOR INFO NEEDED

On Training Wheels
Hello, I am trying to assist my Mom in selling two vintage bikes she has had in her basement for over 25 years. The first is an Arnold Schwinn Excelsior from what I can tell by the Badge. I did try to search the serial number but came up empty. I did not search hard since this is all new to me.
The second is a Ladies Elgin. I did not try and search this serial number.
We would appreciate any assistance as to value, if what we have is original, and where to potentially list to sale for pick up in Colorado.
Thank you in advance,
Susie

The Schwinn looks like it has been refurbished at some point and it has a high 6 numeral serial number. Much higher than the said numbers for 1934 by 133701 numbers/units. The said SN's for 1934 were 523000-610000 and those numbers are right at the said number of 86986 units produced in 1934. So, in theory your bike is a 1935 model, and the serial numbers did not actually start with a letter in 1935, or at least not in the first few quarters of 1935.
Your Schwinn's serial number actually throws a wrench in John's prewar SN list, if in fact it's a factory stamping.

I have to agree with the refurbished theory. The fender braces are the round end type and screwed on instead of riveted. The fork is certainly early and the rear hub is a 38-41. It holds value being that early, and is definitely presentable even as refurbished.

Thank you for the great information! This will definitely help my family and my Mom. Any guess as to a value or a recommendation what to sale each bike for?

Wasn't that Excelsior badge specific to 1937?
I don't know if it was or not, but it has been reattached with drive in rivets, not screws. Any idea on how many variations the Excelsior badge had?
