Can anybody tell me what year this bike is and if it is right ?

Nice bike! Looked up the number says a 56 built march 9th

The serial number was stamped in 56 and the bike looks like an unmolested original, but the seat is not really visible so I can't say if that's original. 24" bike I assume since it's the DX style frame. Nice example!

Is it 24 inch? Head tube & tank looks like it. Maybe the angle of the pic

Here's the 55 catalog image of the Hornet that shows the 24 and 20" bikes with the DX frame where the 26" is a straight bar. That chain guard was often used on the 24" bikes.

I’m going to look at it this week, I actually have not seen it . She just sent me the pictures and said it was your uncles. I’ll post more pictures when I get it.
