Finally riding a big boys bike
Not a barn find as in my populated area there are not to many barns, more of a shed find while hunting for Stingray bikes and parts. Was next to the Panther I just started a post regarding that bike in this middleweight section. I have sold about 6 bikes on here the last 6 weeks and really appreciate the help in telling me what I had and a price range for the bikes. So please do not be afraid to tell me what is wrong with the bike, and correct me if I am wrong in what I think this is, the more I can tell a buyer about the bike either good or bad the better.
Serial # starts with a F1, so a June 1961? Twin Bar Typhoon. Original paint, has a rear bendix brake. Wheels look to possibly be S2's, maybe painted, has the 26 X 2.125 tires on it, not the smaller middleweight tires which it should have. I guess owner wanted a balloon tire bike. Paint looks all original, fair worn shape. Screen on guard looks pretty good. I sold a similar bike on here about 2-3 weeks ago similar to this, a 1961 twin bar red bike, also had the big tires on it, no original forks, repainted guard, got a little over $200 on it, this one is nicer. Bike rides real well. So I can only make a guess as to value, maybe $250-400. Any input on price and the bike in general would be helpful to me and any potential buyer's. Thanks

This one's tricky, it was an entry level bike when it was introduced, but the frame was only made for maybe a year and a half and they have become a niche collectible. And it looks like it's in clean, original condition. I'd start at $350.00, you can always come down.

Nice bike. Short lived frame.
Twin bar 1959 /60 /61 3 yrs ...Last of the straight bars, this 1961 last yr. one doesn't seem to be a tank model seeing the "Schwinn" on the top bar. I have a 1960 that has a tank & I sold a 1959 that also had a tank. All seem to be RED.
The 61 you have here also has a factory graphic on the chain guard the 59 & 60 didn't have. Never had a rack either. Believe these are base model Schwinn's. Cool frame style just the same.
