Schwinn Speedometers

Hi there,

I have two Schwinn Exercisers with speedometers. One moves out of time when riding and the other one does nothing when riding.

What could I be checking to see if I can get these back to action?

Schwinn exercise speedo's are worth your time unless you just like to tinker. Not worth any resale money.

Most of the time it's a lubrication issue... which could mean the lube turned solid over time, seized one of the parts, and broke something. In the case of "moving out of time" nothing is probably broken yet. Remove the inner cable, clean, and lube with oil. The drive has a grease fitting...the speedometer head just takes a couple drops of machine oil. The other one, check for a broken cable and seized head.
