THEGOLDENGREEK

Cruisin' on my Bluebird
Picked this up from the original owner. She was moving and going to a senior citizen home along with her husband. She had told me she bought that new in 1954. Has a speedo on which reads 540 miles. Still sitting on the original Schwinn cord tires. She told me the color was called windswept green, and Lucious lavender. All in all the condition is outstanding on it. No rust no where. I did clean the wheels and the handle bars. And whipped down the frame. Pretty wicked color to. Pedals are the only thing that are a bit Rusty, and trying to figure out if they are original to the bike. The inside of the tank and headlight look nos never had batteries in it. Serial number starts with a N3... Any help on that would be great. But this is a true time capsule for it's year and condition!

It is a 54 Starlet.......Very nice. They were heavyweights through 56 and in 57 became middleweights. The other color option in 54 was Summer Cloud White and Holiday Rose. Great find. I'm confident you paid her what it was worth !

Ilthank and I sure did her asking price, did no haggle. I'm wondering if the pedals are correct though??

Awesome piece. I would've had her sign and date the rear carrier! Owner, 1954 to 2018. ;)

I think maybe one of her kids swapped out the pedals.

Nice score, I was talking to her but a 90 minute drive was holding me back with a cramped schedule. Rare color for sure

So the pedals are not original to it?? If not please send me a pic of which ones are correct to it!

I've seen two types of pedals on these Starlets. The reason I said they were switched out is the patina on the pedals do not match that of the of the bike's. The waffle was used and also the straight block. From what I've seen, it's a coin toss and you win either way.

Here's Mrs Whipple's 54 and I believe this Blue one is a late 53 model or very early 54 model. It has a multiple (3) year serial number.

My wife would give my left test.... for a bike in these colors. Love it. I may have to repaint her summer cloud white w/ blue trim like this one.
