I may be wrong, but I'm thinking the early ones used Sturmey Archer? I have a 1969 with the Shimano.

Correction: it was the 3CC model on the tri-wheeler

The rear differential hub is Schwinn part number 94 107, but I am not sure who the manufacturer is on those.
