Here are some pretty simple rules to follow if you want to post items for sale or looking for something.

  1. Let's keep in our area of interest. This is pretty broad since we have forums covering 1890's antiques and 1980's mountain bikes, but the bottom line this is a bicycle collectors forum. Oh ya, it's all about bicycles. If you have something that might interest us that is not bicycle related, you may post it in Sell-Trade-Non-Bicycle-Objects.

  2. Prices required (unless by approval *), or indicate that it's offered for trade. The majority has spoken. We want to see prices of items. You know what you want for a given item. Tell us, we want to know as well. If you are interested in making a trade, please make that clear.

  3. Your payment terms are required. Do you take PayPal, or do you require a Postal Money Order? We need to know how you expect to be paid.

  4. Location required. We want to know where the item is. This is pretty easy. You can put your location in your profile under settings.

  5. Pictures are required and must be of the actual item for sale. Stand-in pictures of a similar item are not sufficient.

  6. There is a 10 post per day limit in each buy sell trade forum. This is 10 posts total, bumps count toward the 10 posts. If you have more items for sale than that in a given day, consolidate your posts. If you are over the limit, we'll delete the extra posts and re-instate them the following day (at staff discretion.) Excessive overage will result in warning points being applied.

  7. 6 day bump rule. If your item doesn't sell in 6 days, you can bump it back to the top.

  8. Mark it sold when it sells. DO NOT DELETE your ad text, photos or price! These should remain for future reference/research purposes.

  9. No hijacking items for sale. Make your own post.

  10. Keep negative comments to yourself as far as the item or price goes.

  11. Watch your language. This a G rated site.

* In some rare cases, pricing every item is not practical or even possible, such as a large estate full of bicycles and parts. Rather than dissuade sellers from offering such opportunities at all, we may allow it. However, before doing so please ask a moderator first for approval.

Thanks and have fun!

BUMP RULE CHANGES:

There is an increasing amount of activity in the classifieds, which results in new items being pushed to the bottom of the page, or even onto the second page in a very short time. Also, we are seeing the same ads bumped back on top continually for sometimes weeks at a time or longer. To improve the experience for both sellers and buyers, we have changed the bump-time rule to 6 days. This should help to keep new ads on the front page long enough to be seen. We also hope it will encourage users to browse to the following pages too, where plenty of good items can be found.

Only the original poster of an ad is allowed to make replies to his ad, and then only after 6 days has passed. This will mean that when posting your ad, make sure you have all the information and photos that you want in the first post. You can still edit your post at any time (no limits) to make changes or ad more information/photos. This might seem like an odd restriction, but it's part of the new system that blocks bumping before the 6 days is up. It's not a perfect solution, but it's the best we can do right now.

Just as before anyone who wants to make a purchase should contact the seller directly through private conversation. You can do this by hovering your mouse or clicking on the posters avatar and then clicking "Start a Private Conversation."

A reminder.... sellers, please remember to mark your listing as "SOLD" when it is.

bump for #5
please respect the forum and have consideration for our fellow forum members.

There is a 10 post per day limit in the buy sell trade forums. This is 10 posts total, bumps count toward the 10 posts. If you have more items for sale that in a given day, consolidate your posts. If this rule is abused, we'll consolidate the posts ourselves once with a warning. Do it again and we'll revoke the privilege completely.

=RULE #5 REMINDER=
*If you submit a report they are being addressed in the order they are submitted, unfortunately we are unable to reply to each person individually.

We've made an update to the rules for posting items in the classifieds.

Rule # 2 now reads:

Prices required (unless by approval *), or indicate that it's offered for trade. The majority has spoken. We want to see prices of items. You know what you want for a given item. Tell us, we want to know as well. If you are interested in making a trade, please make that clear.

It now includes an exception to the pricing rule:

In some rare cases, pricing every item is not practical or even possible, such as a large estate full of bicycles and parts. Rather than dissuade sellers from offering such opportunities at all, we may allow it. However, before doing so please ask a moderator first for approval.
