My career is in numismatics. I buy and sell coins for a living. Much like bikes, people have hugely inflated ideas of what their coins are and what the value is.
I seriously have between 10 and 20 people a day most days that have searched the internet and found their coins are worth WAY more than they really are.
Last week a guy had a 1976 quarter. I spend them.
For 25 cents!
He found online they are worth $30,000
A lady had a 1967 Canadian cent. $160,000 online she said. I offered her one for FREE if she’d just come to my shop. She never showed up
