Shelby Flyer Project that hid the skids quickly.

Cruisin' on my Bluebird
Well, this is the Shelby Flyer that I went and got today, didn't really look it over when I picked it up, sadly.

I was stoked to get it, looked like a great project. Then when I got home, I discovered the huge problem. It is going back tomorrow, and I am picking up a Firestone Pilot instead.

Who would cut through a seat tube, and why? :(

The guy is probably going to sell the forks and headbadge from it to someone else.

Why not just pay someone $10 and have it welded up and file it down yourself?
If it was a braze that had broken at the hanger bracket, I would fix it myself.

I don't need a weld where there isn't supposed to be one. I would rather take the other bike that has a good frame. Just my feeling on it.

Unfortunately, that bike has been in swap meets in the Dallas area for a while. I saw it change hands two or three times. The frame has been cut for many years.

has a ding in the frame also, and it looks like the hanger bracket is belled out at the bearing cups.

that is fine, the other option is much nicer, just not as old.

Easy weld on a twenty-five dollar frame, would make it worth it for a nice rat. Picture that frame painted gloss black with chrome rims. Could be a nice bike again. Little bit of work, but it would be worth it, because it's a Shelby. That frame wasn't cut. Shelby frames often cracked in that spot.
