Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
A true labor of love Rat Rod custom build for sale. A friend of mine built this up from scratch starting with a post
war DX frame and drop center rims. Frame was powder coated bright yellow, then the blue lightning bolt darts
accents were painted, and gold pinstripes added ...then the entire painted parts of the bike were clear coated
for a glass like finish. Front and rear modern drum brakes with a dream to ride 7 speed unit on the back wheel...
Minty BROOKS saddle that still looks new....awesome matching Brooks bag for the battery pack (still have the original Brooks box for this)
that powers the lighting system. Nice CRUPI BMX pedals that bring 200 range just for the pedals.. Rechromed original
truss rods, original Schwinn 90's era chrome fenders with rechromed braces....rear fender converted from
a front fender....filet brazed cable guides and slight frame modifications for bracketry etc. all done to
the highest level of quality and precision.
The wiring system is routed THROUGH the frame and there is a plastic canister around the center of
the crank to keep the grease, grime and crank spinning away from the wiring that routes back
to the taillight. Bell, compass you name it...bike is loaded. The only issue being the NR Nickel Metal Hydride
battery will need replacing or sourcing (these are no longer made, rebuilds run about 90.00) or simply
cut the wiring and connect a new power source. NOS Electric badge....beautiful AS Chrome stem with modern
bolts...Tires are excellent ...Bike is MINT, no damage or wear and tear and only ridden on special occassions
like LA Marathon etc.
There is so much time, materials, workmanship and parts invested in this built that if you were to add it all
up the bike would be priced out of the market. With some thought here I'm going to start it at 700.00
but OPEN to reasonable and fair offers. It is a beautiful machine and counters the typical Rat Rod mindset
of building cheap rat bikes with whatever found parts....... this is the Gold Standard of both form and functionality.
