Slop in my headset

I had slop in my '35 Colson headset too. I took it all apart and found that I had the bearings in upside down! Turned the little guys over and no slop.

Doing research I think Bloo hit it on the head. It needs the special bottom cup that fits up into the head tube. I’m going to research a little more but he got me on the right track thanks for all your help. These old bikes are crazy complicate. LOL back to the Long Beach cycle meet
