Speedometer help

I’m trying to make this speedometer work. Can anyone tell me if I might be needing parts? I do need a new cable that I am trying to find on E bay unless there is a better source?

Its hard to see what is going on with the grease and gunk still on the parts. Clean parts and you will be able to see the movement that makes it work.Maybe removing old,hard gunk is stopping the parts from engaging and working correctly.

I ordered a new cable to replace the linked one. On part I have not been able to find yet is the cap that goes on the non cable side. Not sure what to do there? I’m going to see if Home Depot or hardware store has something I can use
