There were about 8 or 10 of them throughout the park…..There’s another one in the background!

Amazing! Too bad those artists weren’t around to teach the old generation on how to creatively stack stone blocks. 🤣

I think they are nice in a few ways. I can see a bunch of industrial smoke stacks in the background. These pillars were put together with a lot of thoughts as to the area & into putting some diversity into the sameness, at least with these stones. A lot of the old cut stone buildings, although usually very precise as to uniformity & fitting, this would include some pillow facing & other techniques to add some interest. Here's an example, my bike is in front of it but was cropped out for detail.

this was the 6th and final stop on our ride at the Anjou Velo Vintage event in Saumur.
Epic, almost monsoon weather at the start, but after that third vineyard, honestly, we and the other 4,000 riders were past caring.
Probably the best vintage cycling event in the world, with 12,000 riders this year!

...the former 'All Saints Church', built in 1720 after the original 12th century church tower and spire collapsed in 1700.
New spire and tower designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor.
Deconsecrated as a church in 1971 and home to the college's library ever since.
