Story Time! Your best score

Dad bought me this exact pencil at a yard sale (he knew I had a thing for mechanical pencils) for .10 - yes, ten cents... he couldn’t read the engraving on it.... Tiffany, 14k gold... said he wouldn’t have given it to me had he known!

One of my best scores was a mail pouch tobbacco sign. We found it when my Dad and I were driving around and saw a garbage can with the words “Treat Yourself” showing, so we did. I pulled the sign out of the garbage can and it was a really nice mail pouch tobacco sign. Later sold it for $250. My best score ever was my 1951 BF Goodrich Schwinn dx in the garbage. I found it when I was biking around the neighborhood and looked up the street and saw a bike leaning against the garbage can with flat tires and a free sign. I raced down the street and told my Dad theres I bike in the garbage and its free! We went back up to get it, brought it back, pumped up the tires and rode it. This was the bike that got me started in the bicycle hobby.

I remember an old picker I met once who said you don’t need that a lot to pick, you just have to have good timing, a wide range of knowledge, and a twenty dollar bill!
