Sunday's Show and Tell ...11/29/20

A killer Garford/Columbia branded saddle arrived from McCauley Cycle Works for the Model 44 racer. I just need a pair of period correct tires to finish the bicycle and maybe a little detail work on the nickel bits. Also some new additions to my pedal patch of singles; and an advertising sign.

Found this on CL. Paint is in really nice shape, glossy and the Higgins panels have a nice matte finish. Chrome trim in excellent shape. Haven’t cleaned it yet.
The 73 year old owner had recently cleaned out his mother’s house and found it in the attic. He had taken it off his bike back in the 50s. He had forgotten about it, unfortunately the rest of the bike is long gone.
On my way to get it, a collector called from California and offered him more money. The man was nice enough to honor his agreement with me. Funny, it had been listed for 9 days with no responses.

Good week for goodies. I bought a nice 1994 Fender ( re-issue of a '72) Telecaster that arrived. It's a honey. I picked up a new Fender "ashtray" p/u cover for the back bridge p/u from Amazon, it arrived just before the guitar. The guitar is all stock except the previous owner opted for a little hotter set of Lollar pickups. It sounds great thru either of my tube amps. It came with the stock p/u's in the hard shell case.

I also hung up a couple of my tin planes as I'm running out of room, and some fish line works well and adds a bit of dimension. The Schuco is a Vickers Viscount ( 2008 limited run of 1000 off an original mold) and the Yonezawa DC-7 is from the 1950's battery op (I have 4 of these planes), cool functions, light, props spin, taxi's, stewardess comes out of open door/passenger faces vanish, etc.

I put an EA horn on my '49 Mercury Super Deluxe Fleetline, a 6 rib EA on the Dayton, ( one more to come) and worked on a couple of bikes I posted in "what bike did you work on today"? The hobbies sure help this Covid restricted situation. And cold beer helps too.

This early tall frame was awaiting me when I went out to my van today. I guess the FedEx guy didn’t want to trudge through the snow to bring it up to the house. I also got around to unpacking a stash of Huffman parts that came my way. If anyone has any ideas as to the identity of the early pneumatic tire safety please let me know.
