Sunday's Show and Tell....7/21/19

-
I went to the Old Bikes Club Summer Swap #24 in a vain attempt to start getting back space while continuing my boycott of buying stuff until I make some room. There are a few parts I'd like to find for a couple of projects that I didn't find but found a couple I forgot to take a pic of.....
I did get a couple of license plates on the first day they were available!;)

A few things I had easy to grab to offer for sale...

(Notice road bike leaning against stand I didn't bring that one...)

But I took it home!! I couldn't resist. 1964 JC Higgins road bike equipped with Campagnolo shifters, derailleurs, Normandy hubs, Weinnman rims & Vainqueuer brakes. Internal cable routing for rear brake. Fully overhauled by club member Eric, form Colorado Springs with all new cables/housing and rides great! I resisted all day, at a great asking price. Then he gave me a "couldn't pass" price and had to have it.

Who knew you could buy a Campy equipped road bike at Sears in 1964?!?

There was a raffle at the end if the swap to raise some money for one of our brothers of the wheel who's daughter had a really bad accident and is in ICU. Over $600 was raised with donated bikes, parts and bike stuff to help them through a very difficult time.

The guy in the checkered shorts cleaned up in the raffle winning a vintage Raleigh poster, a really beat up 24" wall hanger and a brand new 80's Schwinn Cruiser!

Then when I got home from the swap, a package from amazon was in my mail. I don't shop online, but my Dad does and every once in a while something randomly shows up....

Great for picking my nose in the dark!!;)

Attended an enormous auction yesterday, antique autos, motorcycles and bicycles, most of which was TOC to 1920’s. The amount of antique motorcycles, engine and parts alone took up an acre. Cars included an Auburn, Phaeton, so much rare stuff, I was so blown away I forgot to take pics!!

Anyway, we bought all the bicyles. 16 or so, and only one wasn't prewar. Got a TOC tandem (no badge), a Racycle, an Imperial, a wood wheel Mead Ranger, and many cool frames and parts. Nice deluxe and complete girls Colson that would look real nice after an OA bath.

Bought some TOC/ teens seats,
including a tiny childs Troxel, and a Yale Motorcycle seat, which goes to the...1914 Yale frame and fork that Nick bought. $$$$$.
The online bidders were cut off during the bidding of the Yale, the weather was pouring rain....so guess he was meant to have it as bidding went to exactly the amount he had set aside for it...maybe his Great Grandpa was helping out...he had a 1914 Yale too

Fyi some will be for sale, we bought the 2 lots and only needed some parts.

A late trip to the local Antique Fair when the prices are good. 1930's Marx Red Cap Porter with wood wheels, works good!

How about a pic of the truck
Here’s a couple when I picked it up last summer. Went to Welcome, NC and brought it back to Ohio. One family owned since new and the fella I bought it from was a poker playing buddy of Richard Childress. Since we where only a quarter mile away from his race shop we had to stop and visit the museum.
