Thank goodness to MRG !!!
Found another grail Schwinn. Late 1977- Early 1978 Schwinn Klunker 5 in R E D !!! Schwinn only used the Klunker name for 6 months as someone else owned the rights. Klunker was the name used by the early Mountain Bike innovators from Marin County, California.
Those in the know understand how difficult it is to find these in such excellent condition, the chain guard logos are silk screened and is in incredible shape. The added bonus is the shop decal of a now gone local Schwinn dealer in North Torrance called Circle Cycle that I used to frequent.

The years 1977-78 was a cusp of many things cool, music was changing,, skateboarding was evolving, and Schwinn Beach Cruisers were a part of all of that. Time travel !

Attended an enormous auction yesterday, antique autos, motorcycles and bicycles, most of which was TOC to 1920’s. The amount of antique motorcycles, engine and parts alone took up an acre. Cars included an Auburn, Phaeton, so much rare stuff, I was so blown away I forgot to take pics!!

Anyway, we bought all the bicyles. 16 or so, and only one wasn't prewar. Got a TOC tandem (no badge), a Racycle, an Imperial, a wood wheel Mead Ranger, and many cool frames and parts. Nice deluxe and complete girls Colson that would look real nice after an OA bath.

Bought some TOC/ teens seats,
including a tiny childs Troxel, and a Yale Motorcycle seat, which goes to the...1914 Yale frame and fork that Nick bought. $$$$$.
The online bidders were cut off during the bidding of the Yale, the weather was pouring rain....so guess he was meant to have it as bidding went to exactly the amount he had set aside for it...maybe his Great Grandpa was helping out...he had a 1914 Yale too

Fyi some will be for sale, we bought the 2 lots and only needed some parts.

Darcie/Nick

Probably my best week ever. Went to a estate auction and got a elgin oriole and a girls elgins with a 2 speed mussleman suicide shifter, a 50’s craftsman toolbox, ford pickup model, and then found this practically brand new huffy mountain bikein the trash. The 2 speed has already found a great home on the cabe too!View attachment 1033356
