Teens/20's S.M.S Moto Frame Identification

Cruisin' on my Bluebird
This frame I had posted up earlier for @patmcclerren2 at a high price(no sale)so he was nice enough to sell it to me for a lower one. I would like help identifying the maker. I have my suspicions. The badge is original to the frame and is hard to find on a lone frame like this, but it really doesn't give much hint as to the maker. These embossed badges were typical teens/20's? Very thin badge metal. Lot's of pics. Everything shown was with the frame. 28-er. 20" frame. Thanks Pat!

Thinking early Excelsior on this one too, even without the volcano joint. Perhaps the oval shaped stays at the bottom bracket might be a fairly unique Excelsior indicator.

If one does not prefer the Spiegels catalog head badge, perhaps one of those eagle badges for Hawthorne De Luxe motorbikes might fit?

Looking for more input on this one. Not absolutely sure fork is orig. Everyone welcome to guess. Still a mystery but leaning towards Excelsior.. or maybe hmmm...... I did stumble upon one clue and it was this advertisement from an early Spiegel May Stern mail order catalogue. This badge and this ad are the only Spiegel May Stern bicycle related items I have ever found as of yet. It was determined the fender-less racers below were Davis made cycles.

Think it is worth piecing together so it stands up but doesn't run?
