Teens Forebrake mystery hub

Here’s one I would LOVE some catalog insight into.
Musselman, Eclipse, Corbin...looks like a bit of all of them, any insights?

I broke it down completely for your viewing pleasure.

A cam spreads the brass bushings into the interior of the hub shell which are kept in place by a spring steel ring.

Super cool.

It's surprising there isn't some kind of markings on this unit? At least in the pictures there aren't any visible. I guess I have a question... any idea what the thread pitch is on the axle, and is it possible there are stamping's or some other markings on the back side of the brake shoes or under the patina on the hub it's self? Or... on the brake arm some where?
Some of the machining looks crude enough it could have been a one off? The brake arm isn't finished as well as some of the other parts either? And, the finish on the inner hub is also rough..One more stab in the dark if the thread pitch isn't SAE could it be European in origin?
This seems like it would be a pretty stout brake for a standard bicycle? Maybe it was for a tandem or some other H.D. application? Again thanks for posting this, I second the appreciation for the great pictures!

Yes sounds plausible.... I can't remember where but I've seen pictures of ambulance bikes used in WW1.. wish I could remember where I found them... Hadn't thought about the Circus bike possibility.. Interesting.
