The Atascadero Escape bicycle was one of the highlights of Faber's Cyclery in San Jose. It is entirely handmade or salvaged from non-bicycle parts with the exception of the fenders. I believe the grips were added later. I have no idea about the sprocket. It has garden hose tires.
Legend has that it was secretly manufactured by an inmate at the state hospital from random odds and ends in the late 1950's, and then ridden from there to Faber's. Apparently the escapee stopped to show off his ride, and was subsequently apprehended after a stand off with police.
