Riding my '38 Deluxe Bluebird
Updated pics- used some Linseed oil after the OA bath and it took care of the white chalky oxidation that often remains.
Rare Colson "Clipper" Double Eagle Deluxe, the top of the line with the springer fork. From the original family, we have pictures of it in the barn. Had layers of rust and over-paint which has been removed, and you can see the original red, black and silver paint. Ride it as is with crusty patina, or restore it, your choice (only one other is known in unrestored condition).
Was missing a few parts- the drop stand and the "biscuit" light- light was replaced with a NOS one in the box- lens had warped from heat on the shelf but we had a decent extra one and replaced it .
Tank is nice, no dents or rot. Frame is straight, no repair or issues. Fenders are solid, no rot. Braces look straight. Rack is straight, the correct lighted one with switch, and switch/battery tray is intact but stuck (untested).
All metal appears original; bars, stem, seat, chainring, chain, pedals etc- all appear original. Bars look straight.
We already replaced the notoriously bad bushing in the springer with a new remanuf. one from John
so the fender doesn't ride low anymore.
Missing lens on rack, horn in tank, and headbadge (hunt down a hard to find original, or buy a reproduction on ebay). Rear reflector is broken.
Front bracket on guard is missing, and the pedal wore a groove and small hole in it as well. Seat is pan only, frame/springs look decent, good for a restoration. Some dings in the fenders, front's ducktail is a little bit ragged. Non-skip chain is rusty and stiff, may or may not clean up.
Rims are chrome double drops, ND hubs, decent for a rider (no idea when last serviced). Tires are shot (won't include).
I uploaded the max pics here, so If I missed anything or you want specific pics please ask.
Local pick up would be preferred, and may be willing to meet within a couple hours of Mpls, MN. If shipped, will be packed carefully and go out Fedex insured (prefer no Int'l shipping.)
$1600 + $125 Insured shipping, Paypal no fees or add 3%.
