The Rocket in the Hangar

Cruisin' on my Bluebird
Catchy title eh fellas!

So as the story goes, this Monark Rocket has been hanging in the airplane hangar i found it in since the guys father passed away in the 1980’s, right above his private plane. The nice ol gentleman i got it from was at the chipper age of 80 and had no sentimental attachment and was more just pleased as punch i am gonna give it a new life again! Made a new friend which was pretty cool as that is sometimes the awesome part.
On to the bike right! Darn shame its missing its original bars, rack and tank but the patina on this thing makes up for it and oooozes awesome! You can see in the pics all pinstriping is present and it may actually clean up nice if i choose to clean it. The ape hangers will come off and be replaced with something more correct as i dont like apes on early bikes and i will do my best to make a killer patina road cruiser.
Snuck in a pic of my son sitting in his plane for the fun of it.
Peace!

Well....i had some free time today so i decided it was long overdue for some love.
Ditched the hideous Wald monkey bars, the Sears Spyder grips, the blown chain treads and the bent stem. On went the prewar bars, red flake hunt wilde grips, early seat pan, red clay tires and a good scrubbing to bring out some color.
I am the second owner of this bike and it took its first cruise in over 50 years tonight.
Im gonna send some pics to the original owner tomorrow.
