Sold TOC Elliot Hickory Type Wood Spoke Wheelset

-

New Mexico Brant

Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
A pair of TOC wooden rim and spoked wheels with a later (1920’s?) pair of 28 by 1 1/2 inch single tube tires. They have and old red paint with craquelure surface and patina. I am not sure if these are Elliot Hickory or other manufacturer. They have metal rim flange edges that sit proud in either side of the wood rims, the Elliot’s I have referenced do not seem to have this wheel feature. Overall in good condition, tires have side wall crazing and may not hold air long. One is missing its metal flange at the valve seeming, some minor wood cracking at this area (see image). These are not something In my normal “wheelhouse” so please ask questions. Wear and paint losses as expected. $525 pair plus shipping from Santa Fe, NM.

The wood is in very solid condition, no soft, rotted, or spongy areas. The tires seem solid enough to hold up for display purposes; I don’t think I would ride on them because of the side wall crazing. The rims are very strong and solid with no movement or side flex; I think they could be ridden upon with new tires. Also point of note, these have been in New Mexico for many years where there is very low humidity. Thank you for the interest.
