On June 30, 1899 Charles M. Murphy rode one mile in 57 4/5 seconds on a 1899 Tribune Model 450 Track Racer drafting behind a train. 1897, 1898 and 1899 Tribune Track Racers used a different frame design than the road version Tribunes.

For color, standard choice was Tribune Blue or black, each frame is neatly ornamented, and the rims are finished to match frame. Optional colors are Maroon, Royal Blue or Light Green.
