Cruisin' on my Bluebird
I've been working on a long spring Troxel Saddle and was wondering if someone could share with me any info on the model number or name of this very common seat. When I got it, it still had some remnants of the original covering. It was covered on both the top and bottom of the metal pan and stitched around the edge.
I searched here and at google for info on this 1930's ?? seat but I keep coming up with little info. I see ads for "Motor Bike", "Eagle", "Climax", etc. saddles but none of them are this very common seat. There's a lot of Troxels with side flaps and flat bar carriages with oval cut out. These saddles don't have those.
I imagine this is a simple (and super comfy) seat made as an OEM piece for multiple bike manufacturers, and that's why I see lots of them. This Silver King ad posted here had a very close looking saddle specified as "Model 50". Is that what I have?
I found a pic of a VERY well preserved saddle that looks like it could be the same. I'm amazed at how new this looks!
Here are some pics of my refurbished Troxel Long Spring saddle. I know it's not professionally restored (since I did it ), but it works on my rat bike. Can anyone tell me if there is a specific model name or number for this saddle when it was manufactured?
Looks like I put the entire spring assembly in 180 degrees off from original (oriented the bar wrong during assembly). Sure rides nice. Easy to fix next time I get it apart.
Thank for any info you can share.
