Totally disassembled the bike stacked the overpaint with citrus paint remover thinned out with warm water and repeat endlessly- carbon and oil polish the paint buff out the nickel - quite a bit to go on the wheels where paint was o ly partially salable- lots of work to go

yes thank you the rim paint was so thin it literally washed away in spots - but it is turning out better than I had imagined

Yes and silver paint protected most of the the nickel

Buffing wheels/ rough 130 + years of tarnish - Victor plating is like Schwinn plating - really good hardly ever peels back
