Hey everyone, I'm looking at purchasing this Azuki road bike, but I'm not sure of the exact model of this bike. Also, what would be a fair price for this? It needs a new chain as well.

I can't help on models but this one was at local Goodwill for $29.95 for weeks. It had low end equipment such as Eagle rear derailleur. This is the first one I had ever seen so maybe there were nicer models.

-----

example appears to date from the 1971-72 time

if you would like to determine a specific date the backside of the machine's Sugino Maxy crank arms will be marked with a date code

the decoder for this is located here:

most Azuki badged machines were produced by Kawamura bicycle in Japan

one odd dimension to be aware of -

the subject machine likely has an .833 steerer and stem

this size was also employed on some Schwinn models

I'd save my money if I were you. This bike displays all the features of a bottom tier bike. The "lazy brakes"(levers under upper part of bars), shifters mounted at the head tube, and stamped dropouts. If it's really cheap, OK. But Just a few (more like 8-10 )years later Japan rocked the bicycle world with amazingly good bikes at great prices (the Japanese Yen was very weak to the dollar), They sold millions and they can still be found barley used for pretty cheap. At that time I raced on two Italian bikes, I got a Japanese bike from a shop where a friend worked---right off the rack better than both of my others and way cheaper.---I'm all for Japanese bikes, but save your money for a good one
