When I removed the red paint from my 41, the remover that worked the best on the red spray paint on my bike was lacquer thinner. It is a nasty process that is a labor of love.

Not sure if this has been added yet. It's one for sale on eBay now (not mine).

Serial J07265.
Looks like a WWII era bike with single rear wire stay.
It's either black or dark green underneath the grey paint.
Has a welded and seamed bottom bracket.
Black bars and stem.
Black braces.
Black headset cups.

Wore out three sets of tires already!
Seller said the frame was taken down to the metal and painted and I guess the fenders were not. Seller says, "Great candidate for a repaint..." Then you need to repaint the rims. Then find minty WW2 parts... Sounds like a fun project. 🙃

I see that kind of over-paint and think to myself "not doing one of those again". I've stripped and re-done a few bikes over the years, but it's nasty, messy work usually. I could see a WWII reenactor who wants a "looks the part" bike stripping it down and doing a flat olive drab type bike. Not 100% authentic, but if you need a bike that looks like it belongs alongside an old Jeep, it would look the part.

Def looks war time with the single braces and the added chainguard. Love that Wartime front wheel reflector.😜 If its that Brewster Green underneath its a real shame. We hardly ever see that color.

I vowed never to strip another bike after inhaling lacquer thinner fumes for hours and hours stripping my gramp's 41. It is a nasty process.

I sprayed the rattle can red on the 41 frame with my gramps in his barn when I was about 11, so I was responsible for the original sin, and cleaning it up 40 years later. That kind if stuff can happen when there's only been 2 owners of an 80 year old bike, and they are both in the same family. 😎

I need to update the chart this weekend with the last few serials....

Thank you for adding the J07265 VW1M to the list @SirMike1983! Wartime Schwinn lightweight bikes are the reason this list exists.

Added @Jollyride 's new 1940 to the list too. It is one of the 20 oldest bikes on the list. Please post more pics when you get it rolling.

Looks like that new J07265 entry still has the fillet brazed joints at the head tube, so no EF'g of the head tubes at this point. 🤔
