Wastyn or Durkopp(?) Copper plated track racer

After looking at that frame for quite some time, I think the frame is a Wastyn custom with just the lugs cut off and re-shaped. But I’m definitely no expert on these. The owner very well could have had the frame plated after the frame was built.

these images are from a book those show Coppi's Bianchi track bike... notice the rear dropouts open fwd and looks like a double fixed gear cog setup. the wheel can be moved fwd or aft for changes in chain length, depending on the cog the chain was on. those are what my bike rear dropouts are.

cycling clubs and registries.......seems that the modern 'road bike' crowd is a bit different. not like the balloon tire crowd that loves the history of our cherished bikes! i bought a cinelli super corsa in 1974 and had it sent from italy-have all the original paperwork-sales/import stuff. sold the bike many years ago but found that paperwork and contacted the cinelli registry to offer it to the current owner of the bike (free) for 'historical provenance' (saw the serial number in the listings!)-zilch-nada-nothing.....whatever.

It's possible the USPS "lost" a letter either going to or coming from. I could tell several stories about lost or mis-directed mail.

Those lugs are similar but not the same as what's on the copper frame.

i should have said type of lugs... fwd opening as opposed to track type rear opening.
