Were apple core badges used on postwar bikes?

I picked up this girls CWC and it has the apple core badge. The serial comes up as a 49 though. From posts on the cabe it seemed to me that this badge was prewar and on higher end bikes. Could this be original or did someone add it at some point? Thank you for any information.

Had I not seen it I would say no. Another anomaly of the bike world. The badge is worth way more than the bike!

I actually thought you meant that they drilled another hole in the steer tube and ruined the badge by putting it on this bike.
