Hi @Rattman13 @Mountain Trail Andy

I make that B25142/D2. Frame made February 1937, and bicycle built up the same month.

It could be an Elgin badged bike, do you have a better photo of this or can confirm?

B14326 of @Chopper Gary is a very similar Elgin, similar paint and pinstripes, and only a month before yours.

It is surrounded by some late Elgin Bluebirds...

Hi @genesmachines

F14658/H1 was built mid January 1941.

Here is a similar Elgin, built March 1941 to compare it to. Is your rear brake a Musselman too?

In replacing the toasted tires I found date code F "square" on rear Musselman hub- 3rd quarter 1940. I can't figure why it was repainted, everything is in very good condition. About 2 wks before it hit an online auction, I saw pictures of it at an estate sale hanging in a shed. Gotta vent, this auction company in South central NY proved my saying of the 'Buyers Premium' " The more they charge the sorrier the service" 17% and they left it outside leaning against a building so the rain poured on it off the roof rusting unpainted items .

Hi @genesmachines

Thanks for the follow up on the hub, looks like it’s original to the bike then. (-:

And I too would be furious about any item being treated that way. A total lack of professionalism and respect for a paying client.

Best regards, Adrian
