What are your thoughts on putting these atom drum brakes on a 1941 auto cycle?

Wrong type of bike for hills , Why not just get a vintage lightweight , New World, Traveler, Racer.

The wheels will probably not fit the spacing of the frame and fork dropouts anyway. I'd find the original ones myself as they would be a lot cheaper. Trevor

I put an Atom drum 5 speed wheel set on a 3 speed 1957 Corvette middleweight frame a few years back. If I remember correctly the drop out spread was 5 1/8" so I had to spread the stays almost an inch.

The Atom drum brake is not a very good brake and not the easiest pedaling, I don't see a reason to run one unless it came on the bike OG.

Those are a bit expensive in my opinion, and it is quite a lot of work to get those to fit. That rear is a 5 speed so you’ll have to spread the rear, get a derailleur and a shifter and a cable etc....

For the same price you could probably get an original prewar wheel set with front drum brake

I guess you could look at your leisure to find og rims and bolt those on- try not to damage og paint with cable clamps stops etc. 660 will buy you a mountain bike to ride....
