Rode my late '80s Bianchi in the local off road event, 'Piggy's Revenge'.

My bike was, by far, the oldest bike there. Lots of high-tech 1x9 and 1x11 drivetrains and disk brakes.

You have to love an event with a mid-race beer stop.

The payoff: brats and beer

Event sponsor 3 Bridges Brewing. Their light lager and IPA were both excellent!

Rode out to the foot of the McDowell mountains with my buddies.

At the bottom of a hill we were coasting down, just before we left the paved trail to ride off road, I got distracted and hit this stone in the middle of the path, and flew off my bike. 🙃 You can see the rock and skid mark I left. The stone was marking a set of large bolts sticking out of the concrete. This part of the trail has been under construction for years and is always evolving.

My helmet took some abrasion along with my sun glasses.😎 My knee and elbow have some r-rash but I was more startled and adrenaline nauseous than seriously hurt. My buddies ribbed me, straightened my handlebars, and cheered me up as I calmed down on the side of the trail.
Finally got to hit the trail and had a blast.

Good to hear you are ok as well as the Columbia. Had you been on a carbon bike, the frame may not have faired so well.

I guess that Columbia isn't worth a darn as a rockhopper. Sorry to hear about your accident, and glad you weren't messed up too bad.

Seems kind of haphazard on part of the roadies or pedestrians, whomever left the rock there. Really more of an obstacle than the bolts! Nobody with a DeWalt cut off wheel or some putty/jb weld to cover the bolts?
